Open to the Public - No Entry Fee!  Dogs must be leashed while in Pioneer Pavilion.   Join the fun - see how creative you can be!  Please gather at South end of Pioneer Pavilion    (horse entrance) at 5:55 pm.  Don't forget your camera!

"Stick Horse Class - Riders 6 and under"

 

Following Dog Costume Class - Saturday evening, April 26th

 

Open to any child 6 years old and under.  Bring your own stick horse or use one provided by the horse show.  A great class for our littlest exhibitors!

 

Note:   Dog Costume Class, Stick Horse & Lead Line Class

(riders 6 and under, horse or pony led by an adult)

will be held from 6:00  to 7:00 pm,

Group Stable Tours

may be arranged by appointment.  Please call the information number listed below to arrange a tour of the horse barn for your School Class, 4-H Club, Boy Scout or Girl Scout troops, senior citizens or youth groups.  Tours may be scheduled prior to any of the six horse show performances,

Junior Judging

 Check in with the horse show office to participate in Des Moines Springfest Junior Judging competition.

 

Dog Costume,

Stick Horse and Lead Line Classes

open to all children age 6 and under.

Saturday evening's show starts 6:00 pm. with these classes for our littlest exhibitors.

Open to the public, so the competition will be stiff!!! Get those stable dogs decked out for the fun!

Located at East 30th Street and University Ave (Highway 163) Des Moines, Iowa

 

From Eastern Iowa

From I-80 westbound, take Exit 141, travel south on Hwy 65 to Exit 79, then go right (west) on Hwy 163 (University Avenue) approximately three miles to Fairgrounds. Turn left on East 30th, enter through Main Gate.

 

From Western Iowa

From I-80 eastbound, take Hwy I-235. Stay on I-235 through downtown Des Moines and after crossing the Des Moines River, start looking for the East University exit. Take the East University exit, and follow University Ave. to East 30th Street. Turn right on East 30th to the Main Gate of the fairgrounds.

 

From Northern Iowa

From I-35 southbound, continue going straight onto I-235. Take the East University exit, follow the signs to East University Ave. Turn left onto University Ave. and follow to East 30th Street. Turn right on East 30th to the Main Gate of the fairgrounds.

 

From Southern Iowa

From I-35 northbound, take the Des Moines freeway exit, I-235. Stay on I-235 through downtown Des Moines and after crossing the Des Moines River, start looking for the East University exit. Take the East University exit, and follow University Ave. to East 30th Street. Turn right on East 30th to the Main Gate of the fairgrounds.

 

Fairgrounds signs are posted on I-35 and I-80 and on the Des Moines freeway, I-235.
